Enhancing Transparency: New Author Declaration Requirements & Vol. 14 Formatting Updates

2026-10-20

As part of our ongoing commitment to research integrity and transparent reporting, Jurnal Wasian is introducing the following updates.

Until now, information such as acknowledgements, funding, and competing interests was added by authors directly within the manuscript text, or compiled by the editorial team during production. From now on these declarations are collected in a structured way by the system at the point of submission, so that every article carries complete, consistent, and traceable information.

Required at submission (effective immediately)

All new submissions must complete the following declarations in the submission form before they can be submitted. The system will not allow a submission to proceed until they are filled in:

  • Funding: the financial support received for the research, or a statement that none was received.
  • Data Availability: whether, and how, the data underlying the article can be accessed.
  • Acknowledgements: recognition of contributions that do not qualify for authorship.
  • CRediT Contributor Roles: each author’s specific contributions, recorded using the standardized CRediT taxonomy.
  • Competing Interests: disclosure of any actual or potential conflicts of interest.

These requirements apply to all new submissions made from the date of this announcement onward. Manuscripts already in review or production are not affected.

From Volume 14 (2027)
  • These declarations will be compiled and displayed automatically in every published article, replacing the earlier manual, per-manuscript approach and presenting funding, data-availability, contributor-role, and competing-interest information to readers in a consistent, standard format.
  • The main body text in article PDFs will change from Verdana 9 pt to Verdana 11 pt, improving readability in print and on screen.

We thank our authors, reviewers, and editors for supporting these improvements to the quality and transparency of the journal.
